28 Injured as Electric Bus Goes Up in Flames in Kovai

OVER two dozen passengers on a private electric bus had a lucky escape, though with injuries, after it caught fire after hitting the road divider, near Karumathampatti, on the outskirts of Coimbatore city in the wee hours of Sunday.
The timely intervention of two lorry drivers who came along the way helped avert a major tragedy as they broke the bus windows and rescued the passengers.
All the 26 passengers onboard and two bus crew—the driver and the attendant—were injured and were admitted to hospitals either in Coimbatore city or in nearby Avinashi in Tiruppur district.
