UP Man Accused of Raping Toddler Killed in Encounter

A man accused of raping a two-and-a-half-year-old girl died of gunshot injuries following an encounter with police on the outskirts of the state capital on Friday, officials said.
The accused, Deepak Verma (24), had raped the girl in the Alambagh metro station area just hours earlier. He was gunned down after he opened fire at a police team that had zeroed in on him. Verma, who reportedly carried a reward of ₹1 lakh, sustained two bullet injuries in the chest and later died during treatment.
