Residents of Melma village in Cheyyar taluk of Tiruvannamalai staged a protest on Tuesday condemning revenue officials for allegedly conducting land surveys for the land to be acquired for the proposed phase III expansion of the SIPCOT project, when they were not present in the village.
RESIDENTS of Melma village in Cheyyar taluk of Tiruvannamalai staged a protest on Tuesday condemning revenue officials for allegedly conducting land surveys for the land to be acquired for the proposed phase III expansion of the SIPCOT project, when they were not present in the village.
It may be noted that the villagers have been protesting for over 790 days against the proposed expansion of the project. The protesters have claimed that more than 3,000 farmers and their families would be affected by the project.
