Mayor-MLA clash escalates over seating at council
The New Indian Express Tirupati
|June 21, 2025
HIGH drama unfolded at the Kadapa Municipal Corporation office on Friday as tensions between Mayor K Suresh Babu and MLA R Madhavi Reddy escalated into a full-blown political confrontation.
The corporation premises turned into a virtual high-security zone as the council meeting, meant to address civic issues, became a stage for personal and political rivalry between the two.
The ongoing conflict between the Mayor and the MLA, particularly over protocol and seating arrangement, took center stage, overshadowing official proceedings. The conflict traces back to previous meetings, where the MLA alleged that the Mayor denied her a seat on the dais as retaliation for earlier incidents where her supporters had allegedly dumped garbage near the Mayor's residence.
