TET must for teachers to remain in service

The Supreme Court on Monday ruled that the Teachers' Eligibility Test (TET) is a mandatory requirement for appointment as teachers and for teachers in service to seek promotions.
A bench of justices Dipankar Datta and Augustine George Masih said in their verdict that teachers with more than five years to retire must qualify for the TET within two years to remain in service. Otherwise, they may quit or apply for compulsory retirement with terminal benefit
