No caste, no clutter: Congress signals ground-level overhaul for swift results in 45-day drill
IN a significant push to resurrect Congress's grassroots machinery, Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, on Tuesday kick-started the 'Sangathan Sirjan Abhiyan' in Gujarat, which aims to aggressively shake up the state organisation.
Gandhi's second visit to the state in six days kicked off a top-to-bottom revamp, with District Congress Committees at the centre of the exercise.
With a May 31 deadline to finalise the party's organisational structure, Rahul Gandhi's plan leans on boots-on-ground execution — deploying observers to camp in districts for three straight days. Each unit will shortlist a panel of five names for district president roles, further tightening local accountability.
