Over 600 Indians Evacuated From Iran, Taking Total to 1,719
INDIA on Sunday evacuated 602 more citizens from the Iranian city of Mashhad, as tensions continue to escalate between Iran and Israel. The evacuees arrived in New Delhi at 4:30 pm on a special chartered flight, taking the total number of Indians brought home under Operation Sindhu to 1,719.
"Three-hundred eleven Indian nationals arrived in New Delhi on a special flight from Mashhad at 4:30 pm on June 22," said Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal. Another flight is expected to land around 11:30 pm. Operation Sindhu was launched on June 19 to ensure the safe return of Indian nationals amid the deteriorating regional security situation.
