Fix paddy MSP at ₹3,500 per quintal, farmers' body urges CM MK Stalin

THE farmers' wing of the Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar) [TMC(M)] recently wrote to Chief Minister MK Stalin urging him to announce an incentive, which the state government provides over and above the minimum support price, such that it would take the final paddy MSP fixed by the Union government to ₹3,500/quintal.
Vayalur N Rajendran, the state treasurer of the farmers' wing of TMC(M), said that farmers currently get an MSP of ₹2,450/quintal for fine quality paddy and ₹2,405/quintal for common variety. When the MSP was ₹1,960/quintal for fine quality and ₹1,940/quintal for common variety the DMK assured in its election
