DO YOU HAVE ENOUGH HEALTH INSURANCE?
The New Indian Express Tiruchy
|February 17, 2025
Recently, I met someone who said he ended up paying ₹12 lakh out of pocket in spite of having Health (Mediclaim) Cover of ₹15 lakh.
He clarified that he got a near full payout from his insurer but the bill he ran up at the hospital was of ₹27 lakh, hence requiring him to fork out the balance from his own pocket, which required him to delve into the investments he had made for his retirement corpus. His is not an isolated case. Most Indians rest secure in the erroneous belief that they have adequate health cover without comprehending how sharply hospitalisation costs in India have escalated.
