Spike In Jackal Attacks Sparks Fear Among Cherpu Residents

In the past two weeks, more than 10 people, including children, were attacked by jackals

WHILE rising cases of stray dog menace have raised concerns across the state, the residents of Cherpu panchayat are living in fear of jackal attacks. A meeting, attended by forest officials and animal husbandry officials, was convened on Monday in the presence of Nattika MLA C C Mukundan to resolve the issue.

In the past two weeks, more than 10 people, including children, were attacked by jackals in various parts of Cherpu. Though the presence of jackals has been recorded in and around Kole wetlands, this is the first time that residents have experienced their aggression.
