DELHI got its ninth Chief Minister on Thursday as Rekha Gupta took oath alongside six ministerial colleagues — Parvesh Verma, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravinder Indraj Singh, Kapil Mishra and Pankaj Kumar— at a grand ceremony at the Ramlila Maidan in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and a host of senior BJP and NDA leaders.

Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena administered the oath of office. Gupta is the only woman CM in the NDA and the second in the country after Mamata Banerjee. A couple of hours after taking oath, Gupta reached the Delhi Secretariat and took charge of her office. Later, the new CM and her cabinet performed 'Yamuna Aarti'. The Yamuna river pollution was a major poll plank between the AAP and the BJP.
