Palakkad municipality announces ₹12K annual aid for ASHAs

Aid allocated from municipality's spl fund to be disbursed after govt approval; proposal to raise capital from investors through municipal bonds for devpt projects
IN a politically significant move amid the ongoing strike by ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) workers in Kerala, the Palakkad municipality has announced an annual financial aid of ₹12,000 for each ASHA worker. The decision was declared in the annual budget presented by Palakkad municipality vice-chairman Adv E Krishnadas.
The financial assistance will be allocated from the special fund of the BJP-ruled Palakkad Municipality, and the disbursement will commence as soon as the state government grants the necessary approval. "This initiative aims to provide much-needed support to ASHA workers, who have been demanding better wages and working conditions," said Krishnadas.
