AS KERALA steps up its campaign against measles and rubella, recent data from the Palakkad district administration reveals that nearly 7,000 children have not yet received the full course of immunisation.
According to officials, 2,943 children missed the first dose and 3,949 have not received the second dose of the measles-rubella (MR) vaccine.
The MR vaccine is administered in two doses: the first between 9 and 12 months of age and the second between 16 and 24 months.
Speaking on the ongoing challenges, authorities noted, "We continue to face two major hurdles in achieving 100% vaccination coverage - resistance from a section of a particular community and a casual attitude among some parents."
