COME June 5, all are actively engaged in planting saplings and promoting eco-friendly initiatives. However, only a few think whether the sapling is right for the specific eco-system in which it is planted and whether it survives over the years. Deviating from the ordinary rituals of Environment Day, a new initiative for eco-restoration is on the anvil, as Athirapilly and Annamanada panchayats through which a major part of Chalakudy river flows, are collaborating with Western Ghats Horn Bill Foundation, of MES Asmabi College, Kodungallur, on an ambitious project.
