In a big development, the World Boxing (WB) has formed an interim committee with Boxing Federation of India (BFI) president in it.

- ANMOL GURUNG @ Chennai

IN a big development, the World Boxing (WB) has formed an interim committee with Boxing Federation of India (BFI) president in it. This, after the BFI has failed to conduct its election on time (their four-year term got over on February 2-3). The sports ministry usually gives a federation three months to conduct elections and that time is nearing an end. Without the elections, they are facing derecognition by the ministry. However, the WB letter would soothe some nerves in the BFI.

The WB has formed a six-member Interim Committee with immediate effect to run the day-to-day affairs of the sport. This development could potentially pave the way for U15 and U17 boxers from the country to take part in the upcoming Asian Boxing Championships, which is scheduled to be held in Amman, Jordan. The Interim Committee is expected to conduct a meeting soon and chart out a way forward.
