February 05, 2025

EXPRESSING concern about the friction between the governor and the state government, the Supreme Court observed that the ongoing dispute between the two was hampering governance and "affecting the welfare of the people of Tamil Nadu".

- Suchitra Kalyan Mohanty @New Delhi

The top court observation came on Tuesday while hearing two writ petitions filed by the state government against Governor R N Ravi for withholding assent to Bills passed by the Assembly between 2020 and 2023.

As the arguments were inconclusive, the division bench comprising Justice J B Pardiwala and Justice R Mahadevan fixed the matter for further hearing to Thursday (February 6).
