A shocking case of manipulating faith for fraud came to light after Ayodhya Police busted one of the biggest cyber scams in the history of the temple town, with around ₹3.85 crore allegedly siphoned from unsuspecting devotees in the name of distributing the 'prasad' of Ram Lalla.

- NAMITA BAJPAI @ Lucknow

Cashing in on the spiritual fervour among devotees, especially after the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla in sanctum sanctorum in January 2024, the accused, who posed as a professor at Northeastern University in Seattle, lured lakhs of devotees through a fake website promising divine offerings from the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya to be delivered at their doorsteps.
