Manoj Jarange's stir at Mumbai's Azad Maidan for Maratha quota entered the third day on Sunday, with the activist threatening to escalate his hunger strike from Monday by refusing to drink water, in an attempt to press for the inclusion of Marathas in the Other Backward Class (OBC) category.

He has been demanding 10% quota for Marathas and wants them to be recognised as Kunbis—an agrarian caste included in the OBC category—which will make them eligible for reservation in government jobs and education.
