1,188 acres were acquired by KSEZ in 2006 without their consent
As many as 1,437 farmers across Thondangi and U Kothapalli mandals in Kakinada district remain without legal ownership over 1,188 acres of fertile land, once used for triple-crop cultivation.
The lands were acquired by the Kakinada Special Economic Zone (KSEZ) in 2006 without the farmers' consent. Following prolonged protests, 2,180 acres were removed from the KSEZ and ordered to be returned to farmers. Since 2021, land titles have not been transferred due to delays in the Registration and Stamps Department.
