Senior forest officer says aim is to spread the message of elephant conservation, address man-elephant conflict

CHIEF Conservator of Forests KT Hanumanthappa said that the significance of 'World Elephant Day' was to spread the message of elephant conservation, human-elephant conflict management and coexistence, while simultaneously paying homage to the majestic elephants. He voiced these sentiments during the World Elephant Day 2025 program, collaboratively organised by Karnataka Forest Department, Shivamogga Wildlife Division, Shivamogga Wildlife Sub-Division, and the Sakrebail Wildlife Zone in Sakrebyle village on Tuesday.

CCF Hanumanthappa remarked that Sakrebyle Elephant Camp, nestled along the banks of Tunga River, stands as one of the state's premier tourist destinations. This locale offers a unique opportunity for nature enthusiasts and wildlife advocates to delve into the lifestyle and conservation efforts surrounding elephants, while promoting eco-friendly tourism.
