Watermelon sales soar; farmers want better price

AS the temperature is rising day-by-day, watermelon, which is popularly known as nature's coolant, sees a spike in sales in the district.
Growers of watermelon in the district have said that there is good yield this year, yet the prices have not reached the expected level.
Zabeevullah Athar, a farmer, who grows watermelon at Shikaripura, told The New Indian Express that the yield has been steady so far. However, the average price that the farmers are getting is Rs 8-10 from watermelon per kg.
