Suo moto cases against officials guilty of not maintaining hostels

OFFICIALS' negligence has led to mismanagement in pre-matric and post-matric government hostels, and suo-moto cases will be filed against the officials responsible, said Upalokayukta Justice K N Phaneendra.
He said that officials will be given time to fix the issues, but strict action will follow if they fail.
The Upalokayukta, who had been here for the past three days, made surprise visits and inspected the Government Boys' Bal Mandir, the SC/ST Pre-Matric Girls' Hostel, and the Post-Matric Girls' Hostel under the Backward Classes Welfare Department on Friday. He clarified that the mismanagement was due to negligence, rather than intentional misconduct, and warned of necessary action if corrections were not made.
At the Bal Mandir, he examined the kitchen's hygiene, checked the hand-washing stations and water filters, and reviewed the dormitories. He directed officials to replace damaged beds and mattresses, repair broken furniture, and fix window glass and mesh to prevent mosquito infestations and set a one-week deadline for these improvements.
