Rains damage roads, dozens of bridges in Shivamogga dist

'Repair work for roads is estimated to cost Rs 85 cr, Rs 34 cr for bridges and Rs 2 cr for buildings'
HEAVY rains have damaged 31.04 km of state highways, 68.25 km of district main roads, 67 bridges and culverts, and five buildings in the district and repairs are estimated at over Rs 122 crore.
Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi revealed the data in this regard while replying to an unstarred question from Thirthahalli MLA Araga Jnanendra in the ongoing monsoon session of the Legislative Assembly. The minister said that repairs are estimated to cost Rs 85.90 crore for roads, Rs 34.57 crore for bridges and culverts, and Rs 2.32 crore for buildings, subject to fund availability.
