Price hike of essential medicines will burden common man: MP

THE recent decision of the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) will burden the common man as he/she has to pay high prices for the most essential day-to-day useful drugs, alleged Congress MP Dr Prabha Mallikarjun.
Speaking during a debate on a matter of public importance in the Parliament on Thursday, she said the increase in the prices of essential medicines by 50 per cent as permitted by the NPPA will result in a greater burden on crores of patients in the country, especially the economically weaker sections.
