Forum welcomes Centre's caste census decision

FORMER MLC R K Siddaramanna has said that the Backward Caste Federation has welcomed the decision of the Central government to hold a caste enumeration along with the general census.
GENERAL secretary of the Akhil Karnataka Koracha Maha Sangha Y Kumar has appealed to community people to mark their names as Koracha and Korachar when census enumerators arrive at their doorstep for the survey of internal reservation.
The state government has launched a survey of Scheduled Caste (SC) communities to enumerate sub-castes within each parent group for providing internal reservation which began on May 5. Speaking at a press conference here on Tuesday, he said, "Justice H N Nagamohandas Commission will identify social, educational and economic status of sub-castes of 101 scheduled castes to implement internal reservation, conduct a caste survey and prepare a report with data."
