RBI Cuts Project Finance Provisions to 1-1.25%

In a relief to banks, the RBI on Thursday released directions on project finance norms, asking lenders to maintain provision of 1.25% on commercial real estate and 1% each on commercial real estate-residential housing and other portfolio during construction phase.
The new norms will come into force from October 1. This is the second major regulatory measure that the RBI under Malhotra has taken after putting off the expected credit loss guidelines.
