|August 25, 2025
THE Centre's annual special campaign on 'swachhata' (cleanliness) will expand its scope this year by prioritising the disposal of e-waste generated in government offices, in addition to clearing old files and scrap.
Ministries and departments have been directed to scientifically manage discarded electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) such as printers, CPUs, monitors, batteries, and laptops under Special Campaign 5.0, beginning October 2.
According to Cabinet Secretary TV Somanathan, who has written to all secretaries, the aim is to institutionalise cleanliness and reduce pendency.
The campaign will cover not only ministries and departments but also field and outstation offices with direct public interface, as well as autonomous bodies and PSUs.
