Convert HR&CE colleges into state govt institutions, says EPS

AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) on Thursday said that utilizing funds from the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department for college maintenance was inappropriate, and instead urged the government to convert the institutions into government arts and science colleges to ensure better facilities for students.
Responding to Chief Minister M K Stalin's remarks on the HR&CE colleges controversy, EPS made the statement while kickstarting the AIADMK's first phase of campaigning for the 2026 Assembly elections in Villupuram district.
Addressing a large gathering at the Puducherry Road-Trichy Trunk Road junction, EPS launched a scathing attack on the DMK government, accusing it of administrative failure, poor disaster preparedness, and negligence in public welfare.
