Officials Take Steps to Prevent Stampede-Like Situation

WITH the auspicious Ashada Shukravara beginning on June 27, preparations are in full swing atop Chamundi Hills, which is expected to witness lakhs of devotees from across the state flocking for a darshan of Goddess Chamundeshwari.
In the wake of the recent stampede during the RCB's victory celebrations at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, the district administration and police have implemented stringent crowd management measures. Separate queues have been set up for general visitors, and for those holding ₹300 and ₹2,000 tickets, as well as for devotees trekking the hill shrine.
For the first time, authorities are using the permanent queue shelters built years ago near the parking area. These shelters are equipped with drinking water, toilet facilities, and seating. The Chamundeshwari Temple Development Authority will distribute dry fruits and badam milk to devotees.
