Need to Create Market for Pisciculture: DC

DEPUTY Commissioner Kumar has emphasised the need to create a robust market and extend greater support to pisciculturists, noting that the district produces an average of 30,000 tonnes of fish annually.
Chairing the district-level meeting of the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) for 2025-26 held at the DC's office on Tuesday, Kumar said aquaculture is being carried out in 865 lakes, including 177 under the Fisheries Department and 688 under Gram Panchayats, as well as in 26 river sections and four reservoirs across the district.
