THE nationwide general strike (bharat bandh) called by 10 major Central Trade Unions under the Joint Council of Trade Unions (JCTU) banner against the Union Government's alleged anti-labour policies received a lukewarm response here on Wednesday. The bandh was by and large confined to rally, with normal life largely unaffected.

Vehicular movement remained smooth, and shops and commercial establishments continued operations as usual across the city, barring a few instances of protests in select pockets.
