KSOU syndicate members oppose Rs 80 crore construction works, give dissent note

A group of syndicate members of the Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) has submitted a formal dissent note, opposing the decision to undertake construction works worth Rs 80 crore despite being burdened with an estimated budget deficit of Rs 100 crore.
The controversial decision was taken during the 183rd meeting of the university's Board of Management (BoM) held on June 9, 2025. The agenda items in question, Item nos. 183.10 and 183.11, approved the construction of regional centres across multiple districts and an official residence for the Vice-chancellor at the university headquarters in the city, in addition to a new regional centre in Bengaluru Rural.
