Hectic preparations underway for Suttur Jathra

Six-day annual event to commence from January 26; a slew of events to be part of it
HECTIC preparations are on for the Sri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi Jathra to be held on Suttur Mutt premises on the banks of the Kapila river. The six-day jathra will commence from January 26, and will be celebrated on the lines of the mini-Dasara with cultural programmes, Bhajana mela, exhibition, wrestling competition, cattle fair, theatre festival with 25 plays and Krishi Mela to educate the farming community.
The Suttur Mutt will also organise health camps, boating in Kapila river, and desi sports like kite flying, and rangoli competitions.
JSS Mahavidyapeetha secretary Prof S P Manjunath said the mass marriage will be held on January 27 and the rathostava on the following day. Mahadeshwara Kondostava will be held on January 30 and Anna Brahmotsavam on January 31.
