Officials claim there's no historical evidence of a settlement called Attur Kolli nor any trace of agricultural activity
The situation surrounding 52 tribal families of the Jenu Kuruba community who are camping in the Attur Kolli Haadi within the Nagarhole Tiger Reserve has become increasingly complex. These families have refused to vacate the forest land, demanding recognition of their individual and community rights under the Forest Rights Act (FRA). Their continued presence has become a serious concern for the Forest Department.
According to forest officials, there is no historical evidence of a settlement called Attur Kolli nor any trace of agricultural activity in the area. As a result, they argue that the tribals' claim under the FRA cannot be validated. The applications submitted by the tribals have already been rejected by both the Sub-divisional Level Committee (SDLC) and the District-level Committee (DLC).
