Min: In Mysuru, out of 235 pourakarmikas identified, jobs of 219 have been regularised, remaining to be done soon
SOCIAL Welfare and District Minister HC Mahadevappa emphasised the need for pourakarmikas to provide quality education to their children so they can pursue better career paths, especially as modern cleaning technology is gradually replacing manual work in civic agencies.
Speaking at the event organised by the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) at the KSOU Convocation Hall on Friday, where permanent job certificates were distributed to pourakarmikas under the Direct Payment System, Mahadevappa said, "Every year during Dasara, pourakarmikas have been demanding regularisation of their jobs. Responding to this, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah initiated the regularisation process for 32,000 pourakarmikas across Karnataka."
He added, "While there are around 15 lakh pourakarmikas across the country, no other state has taken this step. In Mysuru, out of the 235 pourakarmikas identified, jobs of 219 have been regularised, and the remaining will be done after addressing technical issues."
