Set amidst the tranquil charm of Jayalakshmipuram in the cultural city of Mysuru, SBRR Mahajana First Grade College (Autonomous) is a shining symbol of progressive education and timeless ideals.

Founded in 1982 under the aegis of the Mahajana Education Society—an organisation rooted in the noble vision of philanthropists like Sri Amble Subramanya and Sri Rattehalli Ramappa since 1937—the college has grown into one of the most esteemed and sought-after centers of higher learning in the region.

From its modest beginnings, the college has grown into a dynamic educational hub offering undergraduate programmes in Arts, Commerce, Science, Management, and Computer Applications. The sprawling six-acre campus is well-equipped with spacious ICT-enabled classrooms, a modern library spread across two floors, fully functional laboratories, a studio media center, and a sports stadium with a state-of-the-art gym. Since 2014, it has also been running specialised programmes under the UGC Community College initiative, reinforcing its commitment to inclusive education.

SBRR Mahajana's academic journey is also marked by a unique milestone—it was the first undergraduate college under the University of Mysore to introduce postgraduate programmes. This postgraduate wing, located in a lush 18-acre campus, hosts ten master's programmes spanning Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Chemistry, MCA, Computer Science, Social Work, Commerce, Business Administration, and Tourism & Hospitality. These offerings are complemented by a strong focus on research, embodied in the Mahajana Research Foundation, which encourages both faculty and students to pursue academic inquiry and publish scholarly work.
