BJP dist president says Speaker must be probed for having links with a person named Mustafa

- EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE @Mangaluru

Dakshina Kannada BJP president Sathish Kumpala on Tuesday demanded resignation of Karnataka Assembly Speaker UT Khader for being in touch with the family of one of the accused in the Suhas Shetty murder case and said he must be investigated for having links with a person named Mustafa under whom a few accused in the murder were working.

Addressing a press conference in Mangaluru, Sathish Kumpala said, "Immediately after the murder of VHP activist Suhas Shetty, Speaker UT Khader came in support of Fazil's family and gave them a clean chit, saying that they were not involved in the murder. However, police investigation has revealed that Fazil's brother Adil had given funding upto Rs 5 lakh for the murder. Speaker UT Khader has given a statement in support of one of the accused before even investigation could begin.

Who gave the authority to UT Khader to intervene in the murder case? Until he is the Speaker, we cannot expect justice in the Suhas case. Hence, he must resign, if not the Governor must intervene and take necessary action," he demanded.

He further said that out of the 8 people arrested in the case, Ranjith and Nagaraj are from Kalasa in Chikkamagaluru.
