Spike in House Break-Ins Alarms Residents in Udupi

A spike in thefts targeting locked houses has raised concern across Udupi district, with 17 such incidents reported in July alone. While police have succeeded in solving a few cases, several culprits remain at large, prompting intensified efforts to curb the trend.

Most of the recent thefts have been reported from areas under the jurisdiction of Udupi town, Hiriyadka and Byndoor police stations. An incident occurred on July 5 in Kodankoor, Udupi, where three houses were burgled in a single night. The absence of CCTV surveillance in many localities has made investigations challenging.
