A high-level meeting was held on Tuesday at the Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru under the chairmanship of Speaker U.T. Khader and Dakshina Kannada District In-charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao.

The discussion focused on providing legal clearance for laterite stone mining in Dakshina Kannada and other parts of the coastal region.

Officials from the Department of Mines presented details about previous discussions held on the issue, and steps being taken to introduce revised rules to overcome existing hurdles in laterite stone quarrying in the coastal belt, including Dakshina Kannada.
