R-KVK promotes eco-friendly ridge gourd farming with high yielding variety

Vigyan Kendra, Dakshina Kannada, is promoting eco-friendly ridge gourd farming through the introduction of a high-yielding variety in the district.
A scientist from the Horticultural College KVK (Dakshina Kannada) told The Express that conventional ridge gourd farming in Dakshina Kannada has been low-producing due to poor adaptation of technologies.
The Krishi Vigyan Kendra is focusing on the new ridge gourd variety, 'Arka Prasan'. Trials were conducted over the past two years with 40 farmers, and the results showed significant improvements in productivity and economic returns.
