Over 5,000 property owners eligible to get B khata in Udupi district: DC

UDUPI DC Vidyakumari said that as the state government has decided to issue B khata for constructions that have come up on illegal layouts on non-government revenue lands across the state, 5,849 properties may get B khata in Udupi district.
Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, the DC said that the number of properties that become eligible to get B khata in the district may be more than what is estimated now. The owners of these properties can pay double the tax amount at their respective urban local bodies like CMC, TMC and Town Panchayat and get their properties registered. In the following years, they can pay the regular tax as usual, she added.
