Loudspeaker rules based on event venue, audience size, says city top cop

CITY Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy on Friday clarified that permissions to use loudspeakers during religious and cultural events are granted based on the size and nature of the venue, with careful consideration to ensure that sound does not disturb those outside the intended audience.
The clarification comes in response to allegations by BJP leaders, right-wing groups, and others who claimed that strict enforcement of noise pollution laws affected Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, Yakshagana performances, and other cultural events. Addressing the concerns, the commissioner said, "Once local police receive a request, they inspect the venue, assess the required decibel levels for that specific space,
