Intricately carved metallic door frame discovered

AN intricately carved Vijayanagar-era metallic door frame depicting the Dasavatara (ten incarnations) of Lord Vishnu has been discovered at Sri Anantapadmanabha temple in Perdoor, Udupi recently.
The 4.5 ft by 3.5 ft frame features sculptures from Matsya to Kalki, including a rare depiction of Kalinga Mardhana Krishna holding a butter ball, believed to be linked to emperor Krishnadevaraya's Orissa campaign.
Prof T Murugeshi, a retired associate professor in Ancient History and Archaeology, highlighted its historical significance, pointing out its connection to 1519 AD renovations during Krishnadevaraya's rule and similarities with sculptures in Sringeri's Vidyashankara temple.
