Health Minister to review delayed Udupi district hospital project

The long-delayed new district government hospital building project at Ajjarakad in Udupi came up for discussion during the monsoon session of the state legislature recently, with Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao assuring Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna that he would soon visit the district and chair a meeting to review pending works.

The minister said all issues, including additional funds required, will be taken up to ensure early completion of the project. Raising the matter in the House, Udupi MLA Suvarna pointed out that nearly 80 percent of the civil works of Rs 146 crore worth project, have already been completed. He stressed that beyond completing the structure, there is an urgent need to procure modern equipment and machineries to run the hospital as a full-fledged facility. "There are a lot of people in Udupi who are eagerly waiting for the new hospital building to begin its services," he said.
