Growing dense forests along coastline can prevent sea erosion, opines R K Nair

R K NAIR, known as 'Green Hero of India,' said the sea erosion in Mangaluru and other parts of the coastal region can be tackled by growing dense forests on the coastline.

Interacting with reporters after receiving the Press Club Award, Nair, who hails from Sullia taluk, said stone walls are not a solution against sea erosion. "We have completed 121 forests across India and the 122nd forest is being developed on a desert in Rajasthan, which is a challenge. We are developing Pali Oxygen Park, turning a barren land into a dense forest with 1.2 lakh trees," he said.
