Bandh call by Somwarpet farmers hits normal life

Farmers across the taluk initiated the bandh alleging that the government was trying to seize their lands
THE call for a bandh by farmers throughout Somwarpet taluk garnered a positive response from the locals. The entire taluk came to a halt on Tuesday, with citizens voicing their solidarity with farmers who are demanding title deeds for C and D land.
From Madapura to the border village of Kodlipet, all businesses showed unwavering support for farmers pushing for a resolution to the protracted C and D land issue. Farmers across the taluk initiated the bandh, alleging that the government was trying to seize their lands, despite their longstanding residence and agricultural practices on C and D lands for decades.
They claimed that notices regarding this matter were being disseminated by the forest department under Section 4. A big protest was held at Somwarpet by the Raitha Horata Samithi, who obstructed vehicular movement throughout the town and demanded that the government address the issue on priority.
