A desperate, midnight attempt to save a one-day-old baby’s life turned into a tragedy near Modasa, Gujarat, when the ambulance carrying the critically ill infant to Ahmedabad suddenly burst into flames around 1 am on Tuesday. The newborn, his father, the attending doctor, and the nurse lost their lives in the fire.
The catastrophe unfolded outside a petrol pump on the Modasa—Dhansura highway. Authorities, including the Aravalli Collector and District Police Chief, rushed to the scene. Officials initially suspect the blaze was triggered by an explosion of the ambulance’s oxygen cylinder.
