THE vacation bench of the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court on Thursday directed the Theni collector to file a report on the facilities provided to devotees visiting the Mangaladevi Kannagi temple for the Chithirai Full Moon festival on May 12.
The bench, consisting of justices M Dhandapani and R Sakthivel, gave the direction on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) which alleged that the Mangaladevi Kannagi Trust that was formed in 1999 to ensure proper maintenance of the temple, is illegally collecting donations from devotees and swindling the same.
