UDF OUSTS LDF FROM POWER IN CHUNGATHARA

With the help of former Nilambur MLA and the state coordinator of All Indian Trinamool Congress (AITC) P V Anvar, the UDF ousted the LDF from power in the Chungathara panchayat through a no-confidence motion.
WITH the help of former Nilambur MLA and the state coordinator of All Indian Trinamool Congress (AITC) P V Anvar, the UDF ousted the LDF from power in the Chungathara panchayat through a no-confidence motion.
Out of the 20 members in the panchayat, 11 including 10 from the UDF and one from the CPM voted in favour of the motion.
Nusaiba Sudheer, the panchayat's vice-president and the lone CPM member to back the UDF, is the wife of Sudheer Punnappala, the Nilambur constituency convener of the All India Trinamool Congress.
Nine members of the CPM voted in favour of the LDF.
Dramatic scenes unfolded ahead of the voting on the no-confidence motion that took place at 2 pm.
