Trump Will Greet His Russian Counterpart at the Plane Upon Landing; Wants Quick Truce

US President Donald Trump and Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin will meet on Friday in Alaska in a high-risk summit that could prove decisive for the future of Ukraine.

Putin will step onto Western soil for the first time since he ordered the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, a relentless war that has killed tens of thousands of people and has seen Russia make rapid gains just before the summit.
The Kremlin expects the Alaska summit between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump to last six to seven hours. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told Russian state media that Putin is scheduled to land at exactly 11:00 local time (1900 GMT) and will be met by President Trump at the plane ahead of Putin's departure to Alaska.
